H.P. Lovecraft\u2019s all-powerful Cthulhu is a part-octopus-like god with tentacles, first appearing in 1928 in the creepy short story <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikisource.org\/wiki\/Weird_Tales\/Volume_11\/Issue_2\/The_Call_of_Cthulhu\">The Call of Cthulhu<\/a>. The wicked witch in the film version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0097757\/\">The Little Mermaid<\/a> is Ursula, an octopus; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0266543\/\">Finding Nemo<\/a> features a pink <a href=\"http:\/\/www.animalspot.net\/flapjack-octopus.html\">flapjack octopus<\/a> named Pearl. Germany\u2019s late <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_the_Octopus\">Paul the Octopus<\/a> was famed for predicting the winners in international soccer matches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cephsinaction.org\/activities\/other-initiatives\/icad\/\">Cephalopod Awareness Days<\/a> come around every year from October 8-12.
